Description: Great Horned Owl/Bubo virginianus

Great Horned Owl at Lake Coville

The Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) is a genus of the family of owls and is the largest owl in North America. The Great Horned Owl reached a total length of up to 60 cm, with a wingspan up to 150 cm and a weight of up to 2500 g. His impressive, big eyes are orange yellow. Although we had pitched for several days at the same place at the Lake Coville our tent, we have the Great Horned Owl seen only once.
